10/01/2012 To all Senior Cricket members of Rickmansworth Cricket Club and also fathers of boys in the youth teams The season has begun already, with the squarehaving had its first cut and the outfield it’s first trim. We are just over 3 months away from the first games. So the time to start preparing is here. This is Rickmansworths 225th year. Which we will celebrate with special matches and generally getting more of a buzz around the place. Nets: Indoor nets start on Sunday 12th February at Clement Danes School and continue for 9 weeks. They run from 7.00pm to 8.30pm in the evening and this year are for <men and boys over 13> only. There are separate nets for the younger boys on Fridays. If you are thinking you may be playing some adult Saturday and Sunday cricket in 2012 then come along and start to get fit. Cost is £4 per person, and we need 20 attendees to break even, so please come along. If you don’t know where the school is, please email me back, but I will send directions in the week before anyway. Players: Some of you reading this are new members, and some old members (or like me, very old members)! We are keen to make a big push for promotion this year, to mark our anniversary, so we are still looking for maybe 5 or 6 additional players who can make the difference. We would be especially keen to talk to players who have played Cricket to a high standard – so if you know anyone like that, please get in touch with me as soon as possible. Of course we also need players for the other teams (see below) so everyone is welcome – the more the better Teams: This year we will have 4 league Saturday teams + an occasional Saturday friendly team (boys and men) + 2 Sunday teams playing both League and friendly games (again, some boys can be involved in these too). So on any given weekend we need between 65 and 80 players. Now this email has not gone to 80 people, so can I ask that you all start working on work colleagues, friends and relatives to get them to slip on the whites for the team. Of course there are lots of other things to say, but I will save them for another day. For now the message is “get yourself to nets, think about who might play for Ricky, and start to look forward to the beautiful game that is Cricket in 2012” Paul Paul.blackwell23@btinternet.com 07793 294774 18/04/2011 Decent win yesterday against Chorleywood. First drink with Paul Plummer planned for Wednesday night and then bring on Thursday nets. It's all go at Park Road 01/02/2011 Thanks to everyone who turned up to the Open Day (20+ new people) and those who attended the first nets (13 boys and 14 men) which was fantastic. Everyone is now upbeat about the season to come. I am looking for a 'Press Secretary' who fancies themselves as a bit of a journalist and who can write a regular monthly piece for the local magazine and also a weekly match summary for the Watford Observer - anyone welcome to apply. 17/01/2011 I have confirmed with Life magazines that we will be in Rickmansworth Life and also the magazines for Croxley, Chorleywood, Amersham, Gerrards Cross, Marlow and lots of other places. It will be a double page spread so look out for it. 10/01/2011 New pictures posted on the about us page and also all the League fixtures are up on the fixtures page. NETS are confirmed for Sundays 7-9pm, but we will possibly move to 3-5pm later on if this is preferred by everyone. 03/01/2011
RICKMANSWORTH CC FIRST OPEN DAY As a consequence of England’s success in the Ashes, Rickmansworth Cricket Club have decided to throw open their doors to anybody interested in playing for the club to come and see just what the club has to offer.
The club is looking for Adult members interested in playing on Saturdays and Sundays in 2011, and also for youngsters aged between 5 and 16 who will take part in the clubs growing Youth programme.
“We have some fantastic facilities at the club, including probably the most unique large pavilion in the County, and experienced coaches able to give specialist tuition to young players” stated club chairman Tim Molloy “and we wanted people to see for themselves what Rickmansworth has to offer”.
The club has 6 senior teams, and 4 junior teams (years 4-7), playing League Cricket and needs players of all levels to ensure they can fulfil these fixtures. “We are a friendly club, and we are happy to offer a free BBQ on the day and a voucher for a free game of Cricket to anyone who wants to put their name down to try out. ” continues Molloy.
For more information, please turn up between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday the 30th for a guided tour of the facilities and a chat with current players. The club is one of the oldest in the country, formed in 1787 and has recently been given financial assistance by both the County Council and Three Rivers District Council to offer improved facilities.
Those unable to attend, or wanting more information, can email rickmansworthcc@btinternet.com or call/text secretary Paul Blackwell on 07793 294774. All existing mambers are welcome to pop along to socialise
02/01/2011 Congratualtions to Andrew, Natahn and Mustafa for making the South West Area U12 and U11 squads, and to Owen and Jospeh for making the Three Rivers District U13 squad. Onwards and upwards boys.
26/11/2010 In the vote this week, the proposal to regionalise the league has been turned down. Sorry everyone. 25/11/2010 Get this months "MyRickyNews" and towards the back is a full page spread on the Cricket Club and a picture of Andy Milner batting. How surreal ! Thank you MyRickyNews. 04/10/2010 Thanks to the Uxbridge Gazette, we have some coverage in the local press next week. Take a look here: http://rickmansworth.uxbridgegazette.co.uk/ It will appear in next week's Northwood and Rickmansworth edition of the Gazette, out on Wednesdays, which you can find in most newsagents and stores in Ricky. If you know a magazine or newspaper who might run a story on Rickmansworth then get in touch. All publicity is good, and we might get some new players because of it.
03/10/2010 The work on the top square is now complete, but it did set us back £2220. So if you know any where we can get some extra money, sponsorship, or even a gift of cash, we would be extremely grateful. I was at another club this week where one of the Youth players Dad's contributed a 72" plasma TV for FREE. Come in guys - where is your generosity. We need the money. 01/10/2010 Rickmansworth have entered a 2nd XI into the Sunday league from next season. So we need even more players. If you want to join Ricky for 2011, or want to play some sundays, then just contact the club as per the rest of this website 29/10/2010 You may have seen the odd film crew down the club recently. Don't be concerned - it was an advert for Waitrose (look out for the advert with the bus going round the watford one-way system) and a Childrens programme called Nuzzle and Scratch (the one set in a Bakery). Extras are always required though... 10/10/2010 Thanks to the generosity of Three Rivers Council, and of course one of the members filling in the application forms, we have been awarded a grant of £1000. Thank you Steve and Barbara - your local County Councillors.
