Ben Soames
Nickname: "Soapy"
Obviously a quality batsman in his younger days, Ben still has all the talent, but just lacks a little physical fitness running between the wickets. He quickly turns to hitting boundaries, and walking singles. He has a vague resemblance (both voice and looks, minus dodgy beard) to General Maximus Decimus Meridius of Gladiator fame? however, when at the crease, instead of bellowing "Are you not entertained! Are you not entertained!" instead, he's normally calling for a cold pint.
Not just known for his batting, Ben has a good bowling arm too when he cranks it up. Normally one of the less quiet members of the team, he'll happily sledge his own team mates as well as the opposition. He is also a flash git, turning up in his Meat Wagon with music blaring and sunglasses on?
Most recently Ben has turned to developing some of the younger talent in the club, and it is hoped that a Soames will be top of the averages for many years to come - espcially if Ben decides to take up a bit more umpiring.
